Master the science of behaviour analysis. One level at a time.
SCAnS® is a structured, research-based system for observing behaviour across six communication channels - and turning what you notice into better questions and defensible analysis. Start online today, then go as far as you need: certified practitioner, assessed coder, licensed trainer.
Next live cohort: SCAnS® Coder Certification · Tue 24 Nov 2026A system, not a set of body-language tricks.
Most body-language training stops at interesting facts. SCAnS® - the Six Channel Analysis System - gives you a disciplined way to observe and record behaviour across the face, body, voice, words, interaction and physiology, then weigh what you notice against the person’s account, their baseline and the context.
It doesn’t claim to read minds or detect lies on sight. It helps you notice what matters, keep alternative explanations open and ask better questions - in interviews, investigations, negotiations, therapy and leadership.
- Built on behavioural research, psychology, linguistics and forensics
- One framework at every level - you simply go deeper
- Taught live from our studio, with coached practice from Level 2
Six channels. Read together, never in isolation.
Every level of the pathway is built on the same framework. A single cue can mislead; a cluster across channels tells you where to ask.
-
01
Face
Changes in facial activity - what moved, and when. Record the movement first; keep its possible meaning separate.
-
02
Body
Posture, gesture and movement alongside the conversation. Discomfort, habit and environment can all play a part.
-
03
Voice
Pace, pitch, volume and pauses, compared with the person’s ordinary delivery and the demands of the question.
-
04
Words
What was actually said - detail, sequence, and whether the answer fits the question that was asked.
-
05
Interaction
How the exchange changes: responses, interruptions, engagement - and how your own approach affects it.
-
06
Physiology
Observable changes such as breathing or skin colour. Arousal has many causes, so interpretation stays open.

Common questions
Where should I start?
For most people, SCAnS Online (£250) is the right first step: it builds the full foundation at your own pace. If you already work with behaviour professionally and want coached, applied practice, you can go straight to the SCAnS® Certificate - the online module is included.
Is SCAnS® a lie detector?
No. No single behaviour, or cluster of behaviours, proves deception. SCAnS® helps you notice changes worth exploring, keep alternative explanations open and ask better questions - then check the answers against other evidence.
What’s the difference between the Certificate workshop and 1:1 coaching?
Both lead to the same SCAnS® Certificate. The workshop (£750) runs over two scheduled days, live online from our studio. One-to-one coaching (£1,500) is private and arranged around your diary - ideal if you want personal attention or can’t commit to fixed dates.
How is the Coder Certification different from the Certificate?
The Certificate teaches you to recognise and apply the six channels. The Coder Certification goes further: you code behaviour precisely with the 136-code tool, write it up in a structured report, and are independently assessed on four real cases. It’s a credential for people whose analysis needs to stand up to scrutiny.
How long does the full pathway take?
It’s up to you. SCAnS Online is 6+ hours and can be done in a week or spread over months. The Certificate is two days; the Coder Certification is two days plus assessed casework; Train-the-Trainer is two days of one-to-one coaching.
What does the Trainer licence include, and what does renewal cost?
The £2,700 Trainer fee includes your first-year licence to deliver SCAnS® training, plus updated materials, continued certification status and access to the trainer support network. From year two the licence renews at £400 a year, on the anniversary of your certification.
Can I build online courses using SCAnS® material?
Yes. Certified Trainers who want to create on-demand digital content using our intellectual property can add the optional Enhanced Digital Content Licence (£3,000 a year), which gives full adaptation rights for digital learning formats.
Can my organisation book SCAnS® training for a team?
Yes. We deliver private SCAnS® programmes for teams, forces and organisations, tailored to your context - from foundation training through to certifying your own in-house trainers. Get in touch and we’ll talk it through.
