Turn your SCAnS® expertise into a teaching practice.

The SCAnS® Trainer Mentoring Programme is an intensive certification for professionals who want to teach SCAnS® — a research-based approach to behaviour analysis — and coach others in it.

Over two one-to-one days you work with your SCAnS® mentor until you’re clear on the content and confident delivering it to your own clients. Then you’re licensed to train and certify others, anywhere in the world.

Who it’s for

For SCAnS® practitioners with a passion for teaching.

You’ll need to have completed the SCAnS® Certificate (or the MSc in Communication, Behaviour & Credibility Analysis). Training or coaching experience helps, but it isn’t essential.

  • Trainers and L&D teams

Add a research-based behaviour analysis programme to your catalogue, or embed SCAnS® across your organisation.

  • Coaches and consultants

Offer SCAnS® training, coaching and certification to your own clients.

  • Specialists in high-stakes settings

Train colleagues in policing, security, investigation, HR or leadership — in their language and their context.

What you’ll teach

Three pillars of SCAnS®.

You’ll be able to teach the whole methodology — and explain why it works.

Research-based indicators

The 27 Points of Interest across six channels: psychophysiology, face, body, voice, interaction style and verbal content.

Interviewing and elicitation

The Realtime Cognitive Conversations (RC2™) approach — a research-driven framework for high-stakes interviews and conversations.

Decision-making

The 3-2-7 algorithm, which helps people focus their observations and make sounder decisions in real time.

The six channels

The framework your learners will use.

You’ll teach people to observe each channel accurately — and to read them together, never in isolation.

About SCAnS®
  1. 01

    Face

Changes in facial activity - what moved, and when. Record the movement first; keep its possible meaning separate.

  2. 02

    Body

Posture, gesture and movement alongside the conversation. Discomfort, habit and environment can all play a part.

  3. 03

    Voice

Pace, pitch, volume and pauses, compared with the person’s ordinary delivery and the demands of the question.

  4. 04

    Words

What was actually said - detail, sequence, and whether the answer fits the question that was asked.

  5. 05

    Interaction

How the exchange changes: responses, interruptions, engagement - and how your own approach affects it.

  6. 06

    Physiology

Observable changes such as breathing or skin colour. Arousal has many causes, so interpretation stays open.

FAQs

Common questions

What is the SCAnS® Train-the-Trainer programme?

A certification programme that equips you to teach the Six Channel Analysis System (SCAnS®) — a research-based approach to behaviour analysis — and to certify the people you train.

Who is eligible?

You need to have completed the SCAnS® Certificate, or the MSc in Communication, Behaviour & Credibility Analysis. Experience in coaching, training or public speaking helps but isn’t essential — what matters most is a passion for the methodology and the ability to explain complex ideas in an engaging way.

How long does it take, and when are the sessions?

Two intensive one-to-one days, live online. After you book, a member of our team will be in touch to schedule your sessions, and you choose the dates with your SCAnS® mentor.

What resources will I receive?

Training slides, SCAnS® models and frameworks, an extensive research library, video and audio files, practical exercises and case studies — all customisable — plus ongoing support and access to the SCAnS® Trainer community.

Can I train people online and in person?

Yes. You can run live training face to face or virtually, as well as one-to-one coaching and mentoring programmes.

What does the licence include, and what does renewal cost?

The £2,700 fee includes your first-year licence to deliver SCAnS® training, plus updated materials, continued certification status and access to the trainer support network. From year two the licence renews at £400 a year, on the anniversary of your certification.

Can I build online courses using SCAnS® material?

Yes. Certified Trainers who want to create on-demand digital content using our intellectual property can add the optional Enhanced Digital Content Licence (£3,000 a year), which gives full adaptation rights for digital learning formats.

Can several people from our team train together?

One-to-one is the most effective format, but if you have two or three prospective trainers in your team we can arrange group mentoring. Get in touch and we’ll talk it through.

Is there support after certification?

Yes. You join the network of SCAnS® Trainers, with ongoing support from us — including new research and updates to the SCAnS® methodology — and your mentor remains available for guidance.
