This mixed methods study examines the relationships between trust, rapport, and influence while explores the similarities and differences between the conceptualizations of those constructs in academia as well as industry.

This research study employs data triangulation by incorporating multiple sources of information, such as scholarly and industry publications, examining industry business professionals’ perceptions of these three constructs and their interrelationships. Aiming to create practical and valuable insights for both academia as well as business professionals. However, due to the limitations of this study it is focused to provide the initial framework for potential future research to combine academic theory and industry practice to create a beneficial symbiotic relationship.

Finally, the study presents a conceptual framework that organizes these concepts and provides a potentially a novel understanding of this unique relationship.
